If you have some interest in scents and perfumes and old and ancient perfumery catches your fancy, then you have all the reasons to read ahead. Cyprus, the abode of love Goddess Venus has recently emerged as a center of archeological curiosity after world’s oldest perfume factory was discovered in the region.

According to the National Research Council archaeologist Maria Rosa Belgiorno this factory must have must have been producing perfumes on a massive scale and may be the that the island was popular for its aphrodisiac qualities...while the distilling equipment discovered is believed to be 4,000 years old.

Rome`s Capitoline Museums, are exhibiting these prehistoric perfumes together with the 60 ancient objects discovered at Cyprus.

The scents are named after the Greek goddesses Aphrodite, Hera, Athena and Artemis and are made out of olive oil, pine, coriander, laurel, bergamot, parsley and bitter almonds.
