Calvin Klein’s CK One was the most perfectly tailored fragrance that broke industry rules and records in 1994, selling 20 bottles per minute at its peak and carried in record stores alongside albums by Nirvana.

And now Calvin Klein plans to reveal a new fragrance called CK in2u fragrance. This new fragrance will be targeting ‘technosexual generation’ raised on computers, iPods, cell phones, software, and the web.

The CK in2u bottle, designed by Stephen Burks, is made from the same materials - white plastic and glass - recognizable in an iPod.

This is considered a first fragrance for the technosexual generation. A typical line from the press materials for CK in2u goes like this,

She likes how he blogs, her texts turn him on. It’s intense. For right now.

Packaged in a smart bottle, this perfume is not to be sniffed, since it doesn’t actually smell of anything.

Weeks in advance of April Fool’s Day, a fragrance-free scent named Choix will go on sale this Friday. The non-perfumed fragrance was the idea of the art production company Dadadandy and is being marketed by Selfridges in London as part of a surrealist-themed event.

The Selfridges store on Oxford Street will have an entire floor turned into an outlet called This Is Not A Shop. Karen Wells, who heads the beauty department at Selfridges, said that the ‘limitless edition’ scent is a piece of art than a functional fragrance.

Karen said,

Choix is a dressing table artwork, a collector’s item that will appeal to lovers of surrealism and objects d’art, and is an affordable way for our customers to buy a piece of Dadadandy’s work.

Famous fashion experts including John Galliano, Viktor and Rolf, Maison Martin Margiela and Moschino will all work in coordination for the window displays for surrealist themed the store.

Choix is part of a specific themed event and it definitely is a reflection of increasing surrealism in the fashion world.

Lifestyle has done it at last. With more and more celebrities jumping on the fragrance bandwagon, it was bound to happen and Lifestyle finally decided to try mettle of their scents.

Lifestyle asked one man and two women to test a selection of celebrity perfumes and rate it. The panel consisted of Alex Bilmes, features director of GQ magazine; Roja Dove, founder of the Roja Dove Haute Parfumerie and Roja Dove Parfumerie; and TV presenter Hannah Sandling.

The panel tried perfumes by several celebrities and more or less arrived at a consensus. The final verdict is presented below:

Paris Hilton by Paris Hilton – 2/5

Glow After Dark by JLo — 3/5

Cat Deluxe by Naomi Campbell –2/5

Feminine by Cindy Crawford — 3/5

Darling by Kylie Minogue — 3/5

Midnight Fantasy by Britney Spears –1/5

Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker — 4/5

Intimately Beckham For Her by the Beckhams — 4/5

Spring in Paris by Celine Dion — 1/5

With Love by Hilary Duff — 4/5

Though the panel consisted of three persons of high calibre and repute it is doubtful whether the losers will acknowledge their verdict. And honestly speaking, neither do I because I dont find any similarity between my sense of smell with that of the respected panel’s.
But it made one thing clear that the celebrities are not always winners in whatever they do.
